Materials & Sustainability

Aimee takes time to source and discover materials that are the highest quality and stand the test of time.

Handcrafted in the UK, our wooden lamp bases are turned on a lathe by master craftsmen in Gloucestershire using FSC-certified timber.

Our ceramic lamp bases are skilfully handmade in London using low firing glazes on earthenware clay, requiring less energy for firing.

Our metal mirror frames are expertly rolled, plated, and hand-finished in Kent.

Our leather is ethically and responsibly sourced. The cow leather adheres to strict European welfare standards and is a byproduct of the food industry. While the kangaroo leather comes from Australia’s carefully regulated population management program, designed to maintain ecological balance.

There is virtually no material waste in the braiding and decorative elements. All materials are meticulously measured before construction, and even the smallest offcuts are reused to create samples.

All of our pieces are hand finished and decorated in Aimee’s studio in Berkshire, England.

The Benefits of Leather

Bio-degradable

Leather is a natural material, which means it is fully bio-degradable.

Long lasting

Known for its strength, leather is a highly-durable material, allowing it to stand the test of time. It is also flexible, while keeping its shape and strength.

Easy to maintain

Leather is a breathable material and is lint resistant. It’s easy to clean with a cloth.

Ages beautifully

Natural leather develops a patina, becoming darker, when treated with oil or when touched often or worn. Even if nothing happens to the leather, it will develop a unique patina over time.
