The Ricasso Handle collection was originally inspired by European sword handles in the Wallace Collection. The collection has been reimagined with a new sleek design, three woven and stitched variations and a broad range of leather colours. The Ricasso Handle in Zig Zag is part of this new collection, inspired by the tradition of off-loom weaving. Aimee’s creative practice challenges textile thinking by applying her ideas onto unexpected three-dimensional forms.

Aimee uses intricate zig zag stitches to bind strips of leather and cord together to produce a delicate lace effect that contrasts with the timber below. The braiding technique is inspired by European Sword Handles from the Wallace Collection, London. The wooden base is hand turned on a lathe in Gloucestershire and finished in Aimee’s studio in Berkshire.
