Winch Design | Nasiba
In early 2025, Winch Design invited Aimee to develop a set of three hand-crafted side tables that would share a clear design language while retaining their own character through differing proportions, silhouettes, weave structures, and timber choices.
The pieces were designed for the Flexplorer 146 Nasiba yacht, completed in October 2025. The aim was to allow handwoven grasses to take centre stage, forming a basket-like exterior around a discreet, lightweight metal framework, topped with a finely finished timber surface. All materials and finishes were required to meet strict eco-nest standards for health and environmental responsibility.
Knowing the project required specialist knowledge of natural grasses and weaving, Aimee approached Colette Davies, whose experience in rush work, traditional techniques, and material preparation proved invaluable.
Their dialogue brought together textile thinking, basketry experience, engineering considerations and hands-on making, allowing the design to evolve in a measured and thoughtful way.
The internal aluminium frameworks were fabricated by John McDonald at Melior Design, offering a discreet yet durable structure.
The oak and walnut tops—crafted by Rudi at Arete Furniture—were routed, grain-matched and hand-finished to complement the woven forms below.
